battle fiascos. Rommel annihilated a US
battalion at Kasserine
Pass, because Eisenhower didn't use
reconnaissance, or provide air cover.
Eisenhower's incompetence, his remote
headquarters, and his flaunting of Kay
Summersby, infuriated the commanders.
